The German Day celebrations scheduled for today are postponed one week due to inclement weather. A committee meeting decided to delay both the afternoon programme and the Liberty Park concert and ball. The event will now be held next Thursday, October 2.
Henry Otten of Bunceton Cooper county attends the German Pioneer society celebration as an honorary member and has not missed a celebration in thirteen years. He is brother to O H Otten the musician in the city, aged 55, who is the youngest in the family. the elder brother is 84 and has lived in the state since 1854.
Mrs W T Steele entertained the West End Fancy Work club and guests at her Kentucky street home. Honorees were Mrs J Fiz Mara and Mrs Bransford Lewis of St Louis. A stock exchange was the feature and a pin tray prize awarded. Fruit punch, cherry ices and cakes were served.
El Paso Texas reports Grant Gillett the former Kansas cattle king has purchased the Terranates silver mine on the Vera Corado near Parral Mexico for 176000 dollars. He had been operating mines near Chihuahua owned by Dr Flower until recently.
Prof A G Robinson field secretary of the Anti Saloon League delivers an illustrated talk at Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 7 30 this evening. The six teen foot square canvass shows the views and promises practical instruction for the public.
J. E. James, superintendent of the Metropolitan Insurance company, traveled to Jefferson City to pay the $10,000 policy on the late T. R. Edwards.
Clarence Duncan and his wife sue the Bostock Carnival company in Vincennes Indiana for damages of 999 dollars each alleging a carnival elephant frightened the wife while she slept Sunday morning before daylight and caused injuries.
The elephant belonging to the company awakened the sleepers by thrusting its trunk through the window and feeling around over their bed. Mrs. Duncan was so frightened she swooned and is reported to be in a precarious condition.
A public sale at Ben Porter's Beaman farm drew a large crowd Tuesday. Fifty head of short horn cattle and as many hogs sold, a Lime stone Artist colt brought $72, the Salem church ladies served dinner netting $27.50, Col C J Hieronymus led the auction, and Porter sold the farm to Dr Henry Evans of Sedalia, planning to move to a new farm closer to Sedalia.
The Republican League convention ended with a speaking program at the courthouse last evening. Hon. T. J. Akins and Hon. J. H. Bothwell entertained a good crowd with remarks applauded by attendees. Resolutions thanking Sedalia and the Military band were read at the close.
Mrs C C Lawson hosts the Euchre club this afternoon at her West Third Street residence.
Miss Etta Hurley serves as hostess to Adaglo club members this afternoon for a member gathering.
The Smithton delegation Messrs. C. W. Knox James P. Hook Henry Schluessing and John Lujin visited the city Tuesday as delegates to the state meeting of Republican League clubs.
The Jefferson club will meet Thursday night in the hall above H V Leist's saloon, the former Cleveland club quarters, to discuss local affairs and plan activities.
Rev. F. O. Fannon will deliver the welcome address at the opening of the Colored M. F. conference this evening.

Former St Louis councilman Frederick G Uthoff who allegedly received 35000 from R M Snyder for his Central Traction vote has come back from Colorado to testify at R M Snyder's trial. He met Circuit Attorney Folk to discuss the case and is considered a pivotal witness in the bid for bribe-giver allegations connected to the street car system consolidation.
Miss Bessie Babcock entertained a company of friends Tuesday afternoon at her West Broadway home. The gathering was a farewell for Miss Florence Floyd who will soon depart for Salt Lake City to live with her aunt, Mrs. J. W. Mallery.
A horse that strayed from J. E. Page in Green Ridge was found Tuesday at the home of J. W. Clark, southwest of the city limits.
A Sedalia farmer asserts that this year has seen more crop waste and rain related damage than the previous year, noting greater losses in harvest.

Dr E K Nasse will move his office and residence beginning next week to the Jacobson property at 216 East Second Street.
Miss Mayme Hunter entertained a group of friends at 109 South Massachusetts Avenue with cards and a guessing contest. Miss Edith Krause of Platte City won the ladies prize, a picture, while Mr. John Miller received the gentlemen’s prize, a box of stationery, with refreshments of candies and ice.

A morning ceremony solemnized at Mather Healey residence at 9 30 o clock united J C Anderson and Agnes Foley in marriage. Rev Father Healey of St Patrick's church presided. The couple left for a visit in St Louis then will return to Sedalia before heading to California.
At 6 50 p m this afternoon Mr John F Antes marks his seventy second birthday. He has spent over forty years of life in Pettis county and witnessed the region change from prairie to a growing city. He credits his Pennsylvania parents from the Susquehanna valley for his sound constitution and resilience to life’s ills. He remains in fine health with an active mind at this anniversary.
The Democratic meetings are planned with a Friday and Saturday slate. A session at srown's school in Green Ridge township follows a Friday afternoon gathering at Tona and a Friday night event at Manila. The Democratic Central Committee will convene at the courthouse at 11 am Saturday.
In Jefferson City Judge Gantt ordered the four former Delegates Schumacher Helms Tamblyn and Schneder returned to jail pending trial for bribery and perjury. He refused to fix bail and left custody with the sheriff. A public subscription fund to help prosecute the doodle cases has raised 8316 to date, according to Circuit Attorney Folk.
The A. F. and A. M. Convention will be held in Kansas City from October 27 to 30. Delegates from lodges statewide are invited to attend sessions and related events.
The Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Missouri will open in Kansas City on October 27 for a three day session. About 900 delegates are expected from across the state, with the largest group from St. Louis. Missouri has 560 lodges, each entitled to three representatives.
Dr. F H Riley of Fort Scott criticizes the CarNival of the Centuries for failing to raise funds for the convention hall. He cites lack of local business interest, too few cast members, bad weather, and damages to rented furniture as key causes. Over 2900 tickets were sold, receipts exceed 700 dollars, but 100 dollars already spent and tents deemed nearly worthless due to leaks.
The High school cadets held a preliminary meeting at the high school. Officers elected last year will serve the coming year. The outlook is bright and the unit is ready to place an order for new uniforms.
Officers Charles Leftwich and Billy Drake testified in the state case against Bert Wright colored, who is charged with assault and battery. Wright was bound over to the criminal court after their testimony.
