The jury in the Rufus Martin case, in Fort Worth Texas, returned a death verdict this morning. Martin, a black man, killed farmer Charles Schwackhammer and robbed him in a week ago incident, narrowly escaping lynching.

Report from Sedalia notes Miss Maude Lowry daughter of Mr and Mrs J J Lowry of Pettis county married Joseph Canty of St Louis last night at Frank Wharton’s home 802 Baugh avenue Rev Fr Gil Martin performed ceremony with Nadine Gibson bridesmaid and Louis Sherman best man. Afterward couple reportedly left for Sedalia for a week though the Lowry family says they had not yet arrived. The pair met amid flood relief work in East St Louis where Canty had recently come of age and served with the commissary department. both gained recognition for aiding the sick and homeless during the flood. The Sedalia residents are said to be well acquainted with Miss Lowry and her family.
A Newcastle presbytery committee in Middletown considers charges against Robert A. Ellwood of Olivet church Wilmington for a sensational sermon tied to the George White murder case. Ellwood asks to be tried. presbytery to convene in Dover January 19 to hear the charges.
