Sixteen passengers were injured this morning when a Monon passenger train collided with a chair car on another train near Cyclone Indiana. None were fatally hurt as several sleepers overturned and the wreck blocked the line.
The funeral for Robert Henderson, 41, who died of cancer in Kansas City, was held at his sister’s home with Modern Woodmen pallbearers. He was born near Beaman, lived in Pettis County most of his life, worked as an electrician, later with Bell Telephone, and leaves a widow. He belonged to the Russell Camp, Modern Woodmen, and Summit Council of the Ancient Order of the Pyramids. Mrs. Henderson returns to Kansas City.
Owing to a break in the St Francis levee the river receded to 39.4 feet, still six feet above danger. Water entered the Memphis water works valve room while the gas plant and Illinois Central main line suffered flooding. Bridges at Market and Mills streets abandoned. jail boiler room under water. boats used for rescues. Holly Bush break losses expected small due to sparse settlement.
Sir Thomas Lipton's Shamrock Third, the new challenger for the American cup, was launched at Dumbarton by the Countess of Shaftesbury. Elaborate decorations met a heavy wind and rain as the hull slid into the water and the sun broke through shortly after.
The Southwest Conference of the Methodist M. E. church appoints a committee to prepare the program for Ministerial Day in July. Members are Rev. J. J. Pritchett of Sedalia, Rev. H. A. Barnes of Independence, and Rev. A. B. Appleby, presiding elder. The group expects to finish work tomorrow.
Bob Hatton, a real estate man, lost $16 after selling a hog to Bud Stevenson the packer. Neece, tasked to deliver from Hatton's Forest Park farm, reached the MKT tracks on Grand Avenue before the overheated hog died. Hatton says the animal would have netted him $16.
St Patrick's day events planned this evening at Sacred Heart hall on West Third street. All are invited to attend.
Tom Johnson was nominated for mayor by the Democrats for a second time with a platform of three-cent streetcar fare on all city roads. Sam Jones known as Golden Rule Jones accepted the nonpartisan nomination for mayor at the same event in Cleveland Ohio.
The ladies guild of St Patrick's church host a tea this afternoon and evening at Mrs Mary M Neeley’s home 405 East Seventh Street. After 8 o'clock the event is handed to the young people for games and amusements.
H. V. Leist and J. Waldeman left Monday night for Ponca Ok to arrange shipment of a stock of goods purchased from Coby Block and Sam Levy former Hub clothing store owners. The entire stock will be shipped to Sedalia and disposition after arrival remains undecided.
Theodore Dulle son of Judge Henry J. Dulle and wealthiest Jefferson City figure admitted embezzling 12000 dollars and received a five year penitentiary sentence. He is the son in law of former State Treasurer Dallmeyer.
A dainty banquet was served at Robinsons by Prudential Insurance superintendents and assistants of the district in honor of H Rhodes Feder division manager of Division L. Present were H Rhodes Feder Newark New Jersey Superintendent J H Sullens Sedalia and assistants Burke Lexington Swarner Boonville Gaines Moberly Hendricks Jefferson City Carr Anderson Sedalia and D W Griggs cashier.
