Hon. Q O Hamlin of Springfield chairs the Seventh Missouri district nominating convention on the first ballot for Congress. Joseph H Rodes serves as temporary chair as the party pledges a historic victory and attacks Republican finances under Gov Dockery and Fletcher era.
The Jeffersonian ticket selects Rudolph Dean for mayor James Englebrecht for marshal T T Clifford for collector Harry Sinnett for attorney J C Hatton for assessor Francis Blaise for treasurer B Rauck for police judge and four aldermen with school directors T W Bast and Charles Hoffman. The mass meeting approved a ticket and proposed a biennial financial report to taxpayers.
E Doughner is promoted to assistant superintendent under J A Davis at Parsons. F E Brown will replace him as Katy operator at the point. Local rail affairs describe resignations, new officers, and railway company earnings and mileage additions across Missouri.
President E H R Green of the Texas Midland railroad announces receipt of a patent for a wireless telegraph system from the United States patent office. He plans to install the Marconi system on the Midland, aiming to be the first railroad to use it.
The document records Ald, at Bolivar, elected secretary and county reps named to committees on resolutions credentials and order of business. It notes a 150.33 miscount after thirty years of Democratic rule and Gov Dockery promising school tax cuts. It cites party pledges to support the nominated ticket and aim for city benefit.
Mr. R A Higdon declines the nomination tendered him at a Tuesday mass meeting for councilman from the Second ward on the Jeffersonian ticket. He will support Ed Staten, the regular Democratic nominee for that ward. Miss Anna Thompson returned to Lamonte this afternoon.
Report reaches South McAlester dated March 12 that the Choctaw Oklahoma and Gulf railway has been acquired by the Missouri Pacific system. President Yoakum of the Frisco traveled east with authority to buy the Choctaw and, by error, went to New York rather than Philadelphia where the general offices are. The Missouri Pacific was also represented. Mr Yoakum wires from New York to the scene.
The loud talking telephone or haut parleur enables two distant men to converse as if seated together. A transmitter catches voices, sends them via wire, and delivers them with near original force, allowing talk without ringing or leaving one’s chair.
Dr E C Frank, formerly at Grand Central, has reopened in rooms 225 and 227 Ligenfritz Block with a completely new setup. He invites former patients to note the updated location and promises enhanced dental services.
The Decker Veronee stock company drew a good crowd despite bad weather last night with Hazel Kirke. Tonight Ostler Joe or the Golden Giant will be staged with new scenery and up to date specialties.
