In Greene county and Springfield Missouri delegates gather for the Seventh district Democratic convention to nominate a congressman to succeed James Cooney. Hamlin claims a 44 vote path to the 86 member convention with Lafayette county majority and Greene county support. Cooney backers insist on unity for their candidate.

Lexington Missouri March 11 Lafayette county democracy met in county convention and elected fourteen delegates to the congressional convention at Sedalia Wednesday. Hamlin with twelve of the fourteen will control if uninstructed with instructions to follow a majority of the delegates.
In Fayette Howard county elected ten delegates to the Sedalia congressional convention with eight township picks and two at large. Delegation favors Cooney for congress. In Marshall the Democratic delegation named delegates to the Seventh district convention in Sedalia on March 12, 1902.
A man burned the girl with a red hot poker to force obedience. He was arrested and jailed at Columbia. The girl was sent to her mother in Boonville. Rumors spread that she might have died from her injuries.
A 15 year old boy from the Parker family died while dressing at home after a battle with pneumonia. Ernest Hollenbeck of Windsor, a cousin of Green Ridge bank president George E. Hollenbeck, also died from pneumonia leaving a wife and child. Ex Sheriff J C Williams bought a 92 acre farm east of the city then planned a country home while keeping a city residence. Bob plans a sale of his effects before moving to a Wyoming ranch near Sheridan. Powell Hearne and Posey Payne incidents noted. Al Summers fined $5 for intoxication and his father John Henry Summers also fined $5.

The Decker-Veronee Stock company opened at Wood's last night for a week of repertoire. The house was crowded and applause frequent. Despite cheap prices the company includes clever performers with high class specialties. Remaining schedule lists Hazel Kirke Ostler Joe The Hidden Hand Castle of the King Peck's Bad Girl and Wicked London.
Police summoned to Broadway and Washington last night found a drunken man causing a scene and took him home. Officers also went to a West Broadway residence where tramps insulted the lady of the house but fled before arrest. Mrs. T P McCluney hosted the Sorosis club with a paper by Mrs. Rufus Easton titled Shelley the Poet of Freedom.
In Sedalia City court Burford et al. vs Aldridge et al continued generally. Abell motion to strike overruled with plaintiff filing reply. Fourth street cases placed on trial this morning.
Jim Goldman a Black resident near Huntsdale was arrested in Columbia on a case of alleged severe child cruelty. He allegedly forced his 14 year old daughter to brave frost and snow to fetch wood during cold weather.
Gov. A. M. Dockery touched down in Sedalia and checked into the Huckins hotel this afternoon as he visits the city.
Members of the Ladies' Musical club who sang at the First Christian church will perform at Gou nod's Gallia in the First M E Church next Sunday.
Insurance adjustors Luther Welch of Kansas City D W Andrews and Milton Welch of St Louis George Webster of Chicago J D Fleming of St Louis and W F Holden of Omaha attended a Huckins meeting this afternoon to adjust the loss from last Friday's fire.
Mrs. Eliza Hall and her son Will traveled from Lamonte to the city as visitors today, staying for a brief visit and sightseeing.
The Ladies' Aid society of Epworth M. E. church will host a ten cent lunch Thursday afternoon at Engineer Fred Williams home at the corner of Ninth and Osage.
Bellmer bankrupt stock was turned over to Mr Bellmer today with an invoicing of 245 dollars and he being entitled to a 500 dollar exemption under applicable law.
A meeting of the board of directors of the Farmers' Mutual Insurance company was held in the criminal court room today to revise several of the firm’s laws.
Het Watson reports an annual gander pulling event in McKittrick where men and women race under to pull a greased neck from a hung bird. Contestants compete in tournament fashion with a cross pole rig, prize awarded to the head jerker, followed by a ball. Ladies substitute a rooster for the gander and are honored by ball attendance.
Cannon Dry Goods plans a dawn reopening tomorrow after acquiring Bryant-Tewmey stock. A wide arch joins the old Bryant-Tewmey rooms to the adjacent Royal bowling alley site as interior remodeling continues. J. M. Cannon leads the venture with public backing, while L. W. Bryant stays briefly to wind down the old business. Fireproof safes were opened today with contents intact.
The remains of Mrs. Eliza Wallace who died in St. Louis arrived this afternoon aboard the Missouri Pacific at 2 30 and were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
