Crowds gathered last night as Editor reports from Cumberland Church describe Evangelist Tyler answering General J H Rice. The confrontation drew attentive Capital reporters noting the heated exchanges and public interest.
A Sedalia crowd packed the Cumberland Presbyterian church as Rev. J F Tyler clashed with Capital editor over a Birmingham telegram about his character. The Capital and Birmingham News published affidavits from Western Union records confirming exchanges about Tyler and Rufus Rhodes, with accusations and defenses aired amid revival plans and local commentary.
A local ad lists coal grades from Whipple and Rich Hill plus Scranton anthracite and wood, with yard and downtown office addresses. A Sedalia Mo affidavit states no telegrams about Rev F J Tyler were sent by J H Rice or the Daily Capital. includes notary seal and date January 28 1898.
Judge Barclay resigns from the Missouri Supreme Court. Governor Stephens appoints William Muir Williams of Boonville to fill the vacancy. Williams, a prominent Boonville lawyer and long active in public speaking and reform work, is described as a strict Presbyterian and respected community figure.

Revival services at the First M. E. church continue with preaching by the pastor and music by the Kirby singers and chorus choir tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 7 30 p.m. A young people's service led by Dr. Minerva Knott is at 6 30 p.m. with Sunday school at 9 30 a.m. The general public is invited.
A Missouri Pacific local freight found a dead man aged 35 to 40 beside the track at Little Otterville hill. He wore fine clothes, bore deep head injuries and cuts, and a bloodstained body. A key ring bore S. W. Ewing Omaha Neb and Butcher 203 North 24th street. coroner held an inquest in Boonville.
Oscar Schuppe a noted Boonville musician and piano instructor at Kemper school will join the Choral Symphony in Chicago as second violinist. He commands a good salary and Boonville salutes his talent as he departs. All patent medicines advertised for sale by Servant's Pharmacy in Boonville.
