He questions efficacy of regular physicians, cites Christian Science beliefs, and urges free field for medical progress without licensing or penalties.

Announcement from Gould system headquarters in St Louis confirms H Rohwer named chief engineer and James W Way elevated to consulting engineer effective March 1 1901. Rohwer aged German born engineer with long Missouri Pacific ties was unaware of the promotion until morning papers.
The Hill's Business College Literary Society held an open session with many friends in attendance. The program featured piano solos by Karl Wentzelman, a drill, vocal solo by John Gornall, an oration The Coming King by J. C. Davis, piano duets by the Pirkey brothers, recitations by John Yeager and Lilla Bratten, shorthand demonstration by Miss Johnie Rector and Mr. Lee Hoff, a debate on Carrie Nation, touch typewriting by Miss Samuelson, and a piano trio by the Pirkey brothers.
A man identified as J. W. Botts of Claytonia Nebraska was killed by a Missouri Pacific freight train near Independence around 5 PM. He had just arrived on a Missouri Pacific passenger train, claimed his ticket was stolen, spent his last five cents on bread, and tried to ride a freight to Kansas City with the bread in hand. The report notes the Missouri Midland railroad branch continues to be discussed in Columbia, Missouri.
Pat O'Brien was sentenced to fifteen days in jail this morning by Judge Kinsey after being charged with stealing money from a saloon bar. The case details note a theft incident at the establishment.

The First Christian church held a reunion and reception Tuesday evening for Rev. Putman returning from New York. A program featured organ and vocal solos, recitations by Frankie Hughes and Mrs. J. P. Coleman, a talk by Prof. J. D. Wilson, and Rev. Putman’s remarks on his two weeks abroad. The gathering ended with the song Blest Be the Tie.
