Prosecutor outlines case against Paul Underwood in a courtroom drama begun after extended testimony. Witness John Snyder describes discovering a sack containing a dead infant and a stone on mud flats near Bailia, tying the evidence to the Underwood household.
A blaze at the Wheeler & im Lumber sash door factory in Tacoma caused about $200,000 in losses. The watchman detected the fire before it spread to the main building, and four hours later the immense stores burned while firefighters contained the blaze. Lumber and materials were saved in part as the red flames lit up the sky. Authorities consider it suspicious and seek the cause.

McKee, 26, who had lived at the Eagle Hotel for four years, dynamited a room after a sharp rebuke over back rent. The blast damaged Brant and wife, who were injured lightly, and McKee then killed himself with a pistol shot to the temple. Occupants escaped unharmed.
