Minnesota Steamship Minnesota Arrives After Stormy Voyage
The steamship Minnesota reached Smiths Cove Friday after a rough return trip with two deaths aboard. One death was a relative of Judge Gifford, and another a Chinese crew member who jumped overboard near Shanghai. The ship carried 60 first class passengers including Miss Alice Roosevelt and the Taft party. Several notable passengers connected to Chinese and American interests also traveled, while strong seas and high spray marked the voyage. The body of the aunt is to be buried in Hamilton Ohio, and the vessel will be shipped there.
