Patrol reports indicate the vessel Princess Victoria is ashore in Queen Victoria Bay near Victoria with weather conditions permitting further movement. The steamer Frae reef also encountered trouble but details remain unclear amid rough seas and limited visibility posted by the weather service.
A group of mines in the southeastern Alaska copper district near Admiralty Island is negotiating a sale for about 800,000 dollars with Fox and Hunter and others transferring ownership to a new company represented by Leon agents. The purchaser has employed experts who report favorably and papers are expected to be signed within days.

Two factions emerge: one seeks rapid union with Seattle on any terms, while the other resists annexation unless Seattle guarantees a council seat.
Dan W. Jase of the Shingle Mills bureau announced the annual shutdown will begin December 23 and last 69 days. If shingles are introduced into South America the shutdown would be a relic of the dark ages. Chin Ying is fined 50 dollars by Justice Gordon F. H. Larson defended. Attorney H J Sniverly retained by the Order of Railway Trainmen to defend brakeman Charles Bay accused of kicking a negro tramp from a Yakima City freight train Saturday night. The tramp was killed by the wheels. A trial is sought in justice court Wednesday with possible habeas corpus in superior court if needed. Coroner's verdict holds Bay responsible for the death.

Two armed men boarded Denver & Rio Grande No. 6 at Malta Colorado early October 1 forcing engineer and fireman to uncouple the cars and pull them several miles. They robbed the express safe of about $60 before fleeing. A posse led by Sheriff O Mahoney pursues the bandits, whose description matches suspects from a prior White Sulphur Springs break in Summit county.
