Telegraph reports Cuba struck by a hurricane and storm with heavy rain and 48 mph winds. Wires down, Havana deluged, interior lines failing, weather warnings extend from Jacksonville to Norfolk as Cuba faces great damage.
Telegraphic dispatch from California reports a young woman attacked and beaten by a footpad as she returned home in Alameda. Her purse was snatched and she lay insensible. doctors say she will recover. Authorities fear rising criminal activity unsettles residents in several cities amid rampant depredations.
The Seattle Electric announces a large loop line extending Beacon Hill to Human City via Montana Plate and Lakewood, crossing Geneeane and Southeast Beattie to connect with the Rainier Heights line. The move aims to counter Renton and Southern’s franchise push from the Columbia council for a branch covering the same area.
Affidavits filed by stockholders including R H Lee son of president D H Lee oppose appointment of a receiver.
