The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled against the Abilene and Southern Halfway Co. in a case brought by the West Coast Lumbermen's Association. It found lumber and forest product carload rates from North Pacific coast points to Southwest destinations unreasonable and unjustly discriminatory. Shippers must be reimbursed the difference between paid charges and the commission’s reasonable rates.

New York report indicates Babe Ruth was fined $10,000 last June for breaking training. Baseball circles say the penalty was the largest ever in the sport and came after Ruth became discouraged by a batting slump. Ruppert and Huston of the Yankees allegedly imposed the fine.

A county grand jury was summoned by Presiding Superior Judge Austin E. The 75 member panel will report to department No 1 on November 13, 1922, with matters of public interest to be presented. Douglas was en route to Los Angeles to be with his gravely ill brother Gordon L. Douglas.

Suspects named include Robert Rosenbluth former captain of the 213th Engineers and Sgt Bugler Roland Pothier. Bail amounts and prior detentions cited, with projected investigative costs exceeding fifty thousand dollars.
The giant airship C.2 left El Paso on the second leg of its transcontinental return trip after a new motor was installed at Fort Bliss. The refitted craft then took off for San Antonio to continue its journey eastward.
