Work will begin soon with the tract purchased for 5000 dollars after title examination. removing the door and other improvements will take time.
In Spokane on November 1 Justice of the Peace T Dewalt of Davenport ruled the Washington legislature overstepped by allowing prosecution and a 200 dollar fine for jumping a hotel board bill. Lena Reynolds of Okenoegen county was the defendant in a Davenport suit. the case was dismissed and the audience heard a sharp rebuke of the act as unconstitutional.
At Columbia street and Thirty second avenue a well dressed man named Neverall, accused of insulting neighborhood children, was beaten by newspaper man C B Yandell after a sighting by the kids. Yandell restrained him until City Detective Freeman arrived. Neverall had only a few dollars on arrest.
A warrant was issued for James Winters a miner who had just returned from Nome to answer larceny by embezzlement charges. Complainant H O Barene of Itoh alleges Winters improperly secured 1125 in a crab proposition.
The third annual exhibition of the Ladies Kenneth Association of America opened at Madison Square Garden. Canines from across the United States and Canada fill the event, with strong entries in Great Danes and St Bernards. Judging runs from noon today through Friday night.
Mrs May Robinson was arrested twice yesterday after both complaints by Mrs Ethel Grace. The first accuses her of stealing six yards of silk valued at 10 from Grace's house. the second charges assault and battery after an incident when Grace confronted Robinson on returning home.
Sam Edgar a marine fireman died last night while seated in a chair at the Whale saloon foot of rm street. An autopsy will be held to determine the cause, believed heart disease. Edgar, 65, spent years as a trusted prisoner at police HQ near Yesler Way.
Pay Director Robert P. Lisle, after 40 years in the Navy, is placed on retired list on age grounds in Washington. He entered service in 1863 from Pennsylvania as acting assistant paymaster, was promoted through ranks to rear admiral, and served as paymaster and pay inspector before becoming pay director in 1899.
