Brief fire report from Wrangel Alaska states a blaze on Saturday leveled a house and two residences. Mayor and city council ask Pacific coast towns for assistance as most stores reopen except St Michael Trading company remains closed.
The body of Fred Reger, newly arrived from Los Angeles, was found on the Broad Street sidewalk with no clear signs of violence. Police and coroner investigated receipts and money dealings, noting recent rent receipts, a $200 Tacoma & Marble Lime payment, and a $25 Seattle National Bank check, suggesting a possible motive.

The American Hawaiian Steamship Co plans to deploy two ships on the Portland to San Francisco route within 30 days. The Nebraskan and Nevadan will regularly call between Portland and San Francisco, connecting with Honolulu and New York steamers at San Francisco. Seattle becomes the northern terminus for New York steamers. Honolulu steamers will sail from Seattle with smaller cargo re ships at San Francisco. The fleet split places five Atlantic and seven Pacific ships, with Nebraskan and Nevadan making nine Pacific runs. The 25 day schedule may shorten as conditions warrant.
Ten members of the first engineering crew to go north for the Cordova Bay railroad will leave on the Bertha tonight with a small outfit of supplies.
