A schooner Mae Hyman with four crew members abandoned near Point Reyes after leaving San Arenas for San Francisco. A report from the steamer Balinda sighted an upturned vessel 14 miles off Point Reyes on Tuesday, and there is hope the crew may have found a small boat and survived.
In Shanghai on June 2, Canton forces routed Kiang Si troops after a seven day battle with Sun Yat Sen loyalists. The victors seized 40 field pieces, 70 machine guns, and 1 500 rifles as they occupied Nan Chang, employing strategic moves reminiscent of ancient Greek warfare.
The public debt rose by 51.36 million dollars in May, per the treasury department. The gross debt now totals just over 23 billion dollars.
