Mrs. M. A. Porter of Seattle built a small kitchen operation into a growing factory making Mrs. Porter's Salad Dressing and related products. She started when a friend praised her recipe, created a home business with her husband, expanded to a small plant, and now runs a company with 16 employees and auto delivery. The Porter family lives at 2243 Tenth Avenue North and has two sons.
Ottawa river flood swamps 2200 homes in Lima with two dead and many injured. Rescue crews from police and fire departments race to save residents as the river tops past its 1913 peak and the Mainet bridge faces danger. Mrs. Laura Bercaw died after a water heater exploded in her flooded home. four of her children were injured.
Citizens join a Saturday parade themed event featuring dancing in colorful costumes without masks. Participants march through downtown and celebrate festive traditions with music and street performances.

R A Bird, proprietor of Bird’s Cafeteria, launches a new breakfast room fronting Third Avenue connected to the cafe to showcase his industry leadership. He bought a full page in the Star to explain his progress and reasons for catering success in Seattle and beyond. His 1906 start of Seattle’s first cafeteria is cited among his many friends.
