A plan to enlarge saloon limits to include the west side of Third avenue from Union to Cherry will be discussed by the license and revenue committee Monday. The proposal stems from a Third and Madison license application and faces strong opposition from the Anti-Saloon League, two churches, and nearby property owners due to potential nearby drinking venues opposite Plymouth Congregational and First Methodist churches.
Thos F. Ryan of New York controller of most Equitable Life stock is in the city for a few days on an occasional coast visit. He travels in his private car Pere Marquette with his private secretary and stays at the Washington hotel before continuing to Portla nd.
Sidney Nelson a nine year old boy riding a bicycle on Belleview near Fast Pine was hit by an outbound East Union streetcar at 5 30 Sunday afternoon. He survived the impact but remains in precarious condition as doctors testify both the boy and motorman acted to avert the crash. The wheel was shattered by the impact and Nelson was taken to his parents home nearby.
A sand bank over 16 feet high collapsed at the Great Northern railroad yard in Interbay while men shoveling dirt into electric dirt cars were working. W McAfee suffered a broken leg crushed chest multiple rib fractures internal injuries and a severe head injury.
B F Brown and an unnamed man were involved in an incident where Brown was pinned against a car and suffered a broken leg from dirt and weight. Brown’s leg lay across a coupling as dirt toppled, breaking the bone. Both men were unmarried residents of the city.
At 2 50 pm Monday the sheriff received word that a man, a woman, and a child were burned to death in a saloon ruin near Kerry s town mill. Foul play suspected as sheriff’s deputy sets out on the 4 o clock Nor pacific train to investigate about 60 miles from Seattle.
A rear end collision on the Northern Pacific at Ravensdale damaged a local freight loading at the depot and a through freight struck before slowing. The engine plowed into the caboose and two freight cars, which burned with way bills destroyed. Firemen and engineer jumped to safety. crews were sent to Seattle for investigation.
Ben Taro, 21, Italian fruit peddler, is jailed without charge after a noon Monday gun incident at 913 Western avenue. Patrolman Kelly intervened to stop an assault on David Lloyd and Lorn McKinnon, who pursued and restrained Taro until police arrived.
In Mt View District No 120, three directors face seven applicants. After diplomatic pitches and clashes, Assistant Superintendent Spence hides a hat with three names. Grace L Albert is chosen to teach the View schools for the coming year.
James Eugene Lambie, a Seattle florist and former football player, swam three miles across Lake Les amid a south storm. He started from Madison Park at 4 pm, met K F Strand in a canoe, reached the east shore, and helped summon rescue after capsizes. The storm, the season’s fiercest, caused many craft to capsize and rescues nearby.
About 500 Seattle residents rode a $2.00 Northern Pacific Rainier excursion Sunday bound for Mount Rainier. The trip was a slow two and a half hour ride Seattle to Tacoma with little scenery and muddy rivers disappointing fishermen. Only bright moments came from crew courtesy and brief views at stops plus spirited songs by Captains Thornton Genero and Bill Jones.

Vernet a 14 year old Parisienne from a Belmont King street saloon house was taken by Officers Clarke and Monday morning. She was at the home of Police Mary and will be held pending detention. Moran, held on a disorderly charge, will be laid before authorities for deportation. It is believed the woman is a professional and the girl is one of her victims.
A report describes J. Davie plotting to abduct a wife on a Sunday, hiding in a barn near W. Kilmer’s home. Kilmer allegedly raided the scene and assaulted a man. a complaint was issued. Kilmer remains under investigation as his wife is mentioned in connection with the case.
The water department seeks one million dollars and the fighting department $185,000 for next year as Superintendent Youngs presses the council to approve his apportionment and plan. Funds would extend the distribution system, build two 50 million gallon reservoirs at Green Lake and Beacon Hill, lay a three mile main, and cover regular expenses. The total city government budget would exceed $1.5 million.
Marvin and Robert McNeill were arrested Friday for vagrancy but suspected of abducting young girls for demoral purposes in Alaska. They were fined $100 and sentenced to 30 days in jail by County Court Monday afternoon. Detective Charley Phillips and officers Clarke Brentie and Carr led the investigation. The Steamer Santa Clara is docked at Moran Bros yard for general overhaul.

Judge Frater of the juvenile court frees Elmer Johnson a 14 year old runaway from Butte. He praises the boy for earning his way, sends him to parental school then to Butte with a meal token and a blessing. The case ends with a warm farewell and gratitude.
Mrs. E A Paxton of Seattle slipped on the Florence K gang plank and fell 15 feet into the water but was pulled aboard uninjured. A separate report says Robs alias William Bones eluded investigators until Humane Officer Clarke identified him at the Washington hotel, leading to arrest and a $500 reward.
Gus Bobs alias William Bones a noted hotel robber and embezzler was arrested Sunday at the Hotel Washington by Humane Officer Clarke after recognition by J Anderson night clerk. He had worked for Chas cone A Stevens & Bros of Chicago. Tonight and Tuesday showers expected with brisk winds and a bank debt of 3320 dollars mentioned.
