Plans emerge to form a single giant shipbuilding conglomerate uniting Pacific coast yards Moran Bros of Seattle with Union and Risdon Ironworks, Bethlehem Steel, Pennsylvania Railroad interests and others to control US ship production. Moran Bros. asserts independence.
Paris dispatches report no immediate move to send a French fleet to Constantinople unless the ambassador advises. Officials expect a clash if the sultan persists in refusing French demands or delays settlement.
Mrs Joseph Dahl mourns at 2206 Norman Street with seven fatherless children as friends gather to lament the loss of her husband who died on the Islander while traveling home.
The body of a seaman was brought ashore at Juneau after perishing offshore. Mrs. J. Dahl, at her home, expressed sorrow for her husband's death and his years of hardship while seeking funds at Circle City to educate his children, noting she did not regret the loss of the $14,000 he sought.

The Denver area reports Liam Strong a wealthy mine owner was murdered in a Cripple Creek saloon by Grant Grumley after a quarrel with Strong defending a friend. Grumley fired a shotgun killing Strong then surrendered. The killing has caused widespread excitement locally.
After three years away Dahl left Seattle seeking gold in Alaska. He found fortune around Circle City and saved about 13000 dollars for kin and friends. Returning home to celebrate his birthday, death struck as his party sank in icy waters, life ended after nearly three hours.
