For the ten years of his imprisonment W. Nordstrom sobbed for the first time as execution approaches. He refused food, spoke little, and spent hours in his cell with a Swedish Bible, reading and muttering as the death march nears. County officials plan a funeral suit and other clothes for Nordstrom, awaiting Friday morning.
James Hamilton Lewis writes to the Swedish consul and committee that all efforts to save Charlie W. Nordstrom have ended. He recounts three United States circuit and three King County and Supreme Court hearings, money issues, and the belief Nordstrom is innocent, while noting no further legal avenues remain.
John Winters sentenced to 15 years in Folsom State Penitentiary by Superior Judge Wells for breaking into the Selby smelter bullion vault and stealing 280000 in gold bars.
