PORT TOWNSEND Aug 16 A girl bandit and male companion halted three tourists on the Peninsula highway three miles west of Sequim at 2 30 pm yesterday and fled toward Hudson Six with a revolver. Frank Campbell of Portland was robbed as two other autos with women passengers were searched. The pair fled through Sequim before the marshal received word and alerted eastbound motorists.
Pendleton Oregon August 16 6 Mystery remains over the death of Matt Jepson found in a well near town after three weeks missing. A coroner jury blamed blows from a heavy instrument by unknown assailants. District Attorney Keator resumed the case and blood tests on an ax near a ranch outhouse will determine if the blood is human.

W. C. Payton a 27 year old United States soldier stationed at Fort Worden was arrested Monday night at Eighth and Olive streets by Patrolman Ozura. Police say he admitted threatening to kill his wife and a loaded .45 army revolver was found in his possession.
Paris August 16 France will participate in President Harding's proposed disarmament conference. The official acceptance was sent to the American embassy for transmission to Washington. Premier Briand himself will attend the conference.
