Collision In Puget Sound Involving Tremont And Ramona

The Tremont of Tremont tied to Boston Towboat company collided with the Ramona of the Pacific Coast Steamship Company off Stone Point about six miles east of Port Townsend. Ramona damaged about two thousand dollars. Tremont slight plate denting. Both vessels headed to Seattle for inspection and repair, with fog and smoke reducing visibility. Captain Clancey blamed Tremont. Captain Garrick reported limited damage and swift response by crew. No injuries reported among passengers. orderly evacuation and continued voyage adjustments followed the incident.

Eugene dispatch reports a massive forest fire pushing through the McKennie river valley near Waterville and Leaburg. Thousands of acres of timber have fallen to the flames as crews, aided by a large force, struggle to reach and contain the advancing blaze.
