The testimony revealed brutality by the husband toward his wife.
A new coal vein 14 feet thick was struck at Cedar Mountain near the Cedar River, six miles above Renton. Owned by Seattle capitalists, led by I A Moore of Moore Investment Co, the mine will open on a large scale with 40 to 60 workers once machinery arrives. The vein is described as extensive and high quality, with plans to begin extracting coal soon.
Beattie yachts of the first class race this afternoon to claim the silver trophies offered by the labor carnival. A light breeze prevented finishing the second race yesterday afternoon. A steamer is scheduled to depart for Nome in August.
