Charlie Deving a contractor of 224 Sixth Avenue was robbed and beaten near Fifth Avenue and Wall Street at 10 PM. The pair stole $111 before fleeing. Deving, left on the sidewalk, went to police. Detectives pursued leads including a man matching a suspect.
Cantrell the man described as a negro rave robber confessed under oath to six murders in Indianapolis and nearby towns. Police gather evidence for the grand jury. Victims include William Waterson and Walter Johnson, with others named as Claude, Carrie Belvage, Charles Ordan, and Kenneth French. Bodies reportedly sold to a medical college.
The Humberts trial opened in Paris with a crowded courtroom. Madame Humbert arrived with the husband and wife believed to be involved, both escorted by guards as proceedings began and observers watched closely for the ensuing testimony.
