Reports from Saint Petersburg describe a large general strike with about 30,000 workers obeying the revolutionary order. Clashes between troops and rioters occurred. several were wounded and at least a few killed. Authorities impose control as water and rail developments face disruption and mutineers threaten officers.
The article reports Mayor Moore in Los Angeles to undergo a minor operation with a later possible major procedure. Officials plan to wait for his return before acting on ordinances involving Wallwey Cedar River Water Main and Spokene projects. A telegram from Mrs. Moore dated August 4, 1904 notes a minor operation and possible postponement if no further surgery is needed.

Mrs Adela McFadden of Bellingham told police she was robbed of 900 dollars in the Diller hotel by A Basold, an old family friend, who accompanied her to the city. James Harvey Payne a pioneer Seattle resident since 1861 died at his home 326 Queen Anne av at age 83. He helped build the city’s early era and worked with Captain Menton and H I Vester. Survived by his widow three daughters and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at o o'clock from Trinity M E church with interment at Mount Pleasant cemetery.
City contemplates joint use or condemnation of Seattle Electric Company tracks on Second and Third avenues. Officials note the companys nonexclusive franchise and the citys potential to place its own wires and operate cars, with court action possible to test exclusivity.
