Terribly Burned In Washington Street Restaurant Fire

Jas J Miller a cook at a Washington street restaurant was fatally burned this afternoon in the St Paul house on Second avenue near Main. Smoke poured from his room as flames reached clothing and a closet. He was taken to police headquarters and treated by Dr McKechnie, who said his injuries were probably fatal. The accident traced to a lamp upset while Miller curled his moustache.

Two Boats Collide on the Waterfront in Morning Incident

A collision occurred on the waterfront this morning between the steamer Homer and the brigantine Blakeley. Both vessels suffered damage. Homer bow timbers strained and rigging damaged, Blakeley foremast and guard rail splintered. One carpenter, Harry Newman, injured and taken to Providence hospital. Homer and Berkeley to be beached for repairs.

Kingston Glenogle disaster hearing opens with inspectors

The investigation into the Kingston Glenogle disaster starts today with inspectors Cherry and Bryant taking testimony from Captain F. W. Gatter, Glenogle’s pilot. J. N. Ashton is counsel for Northern Pacific. The hearing will occupy inspectors for much of the week.
