A train wreck on the Wheeling and Brie road near a ravine killed Fisher and Anun, with another passenger injured. In Kentucky, April, a boxing bout involving Peter Kid McCoy is reportedly in doubt as officials debate preventive steps.
A major fire swept through Augusta, Montana on April 6 destroying a substantial mining district business. Losses total about 75 000 with insurance estimates pending. The blaze began in J C Adams and Son and quickly spread, consuming homes and structures on the south side within an hour. Local fire protection was unable to halt the spread.
St Paul April 6 The Yellow stone Park association sold all holdings in the national resort for 1 000 000 to the Yellowstone Park Co The purchase transfers management to J H Dean former president of the association who becomes manager of the new company The properties include the Hot Spring Fountain Grand Canyon and Lake hotels.
For Seattle and Vicinity tonight and Sunday expect occasional showers with a maht to fresh south wind.
Gov General Allen of Porto Rico arrived in Washington from Old Point Comfort and declined to discuss resignation plans. Conditions in Porto Rico are described as precarious. Possible successors named include Postmaster Wilson of Brooklyn Judge Wilson of Brooklyn and Judge W H Hunt. MacArthur telegram from Manila reports 19 officers and 17 Patio Tocariftes joining D'eeson's command and taking oath at San Fernando yesterday.
Rand oloha from Pocatello Idaho and Hickey from the Western league join Seattle for the 1961 season. All three new players are Class 1 and expected to strengthen the Seattle club under proper handling. Manager Dugdale confirmed the signings.
The Walla Walla event awarded a presidents gold medal and a silver medal to L B Kenworthy for a formal oration. W T Laube presided with program including "The Altruism of Combinations" and "Mob Violence" while Miss Carr and Zoe Kincaid sang. The Pacific Coast Co.s steamer Cottage City arrived from Wrangel Alaska via Lynn Canal at 6 30 this morning with 39 passengers from Southeastern Alaska and a small freight cargo. H K Goldberg a well known local merchant returned with the bride after spending his honeymoon in Alaska along with Captain H G Crawsmen of Skagway and Dr Jeeste I Coon et al as passengers.
By invitation of Commandant Burwell of the Puget Sound Naval Station the Seattle chamber of commerce will visit Bremerton to see the battleship Iowa now in dry dock. The plan will be presented at the next Wednesday meeting and arrangements made for the excursion possibly on the Pawtucket next Saturday or the following Saturday.
In Brooklyn New York on April 6 Charles Shaw and George Denton exchanged pistol shots over a small debt. Both men were wounded with Denton believed fatally injured.
Mr Kru ger left Utrick for Pilversum this morning where he will occupy Villa Casacara until departing for the United States. He was greeted at the station by enthusiastic crowds who cheered.
J A Hoshor, recently convicted of grand larceny, was sentenced to one year in the county jail. An appeal to the supreme court is planned and Hoshor will remain free on $10,000 bonds posted by W Dickinson of Tacoma after trial. In other news, Seattle Electric Company and Kenton Cooperative Coal Company closed a major deal transferring ownership of the Renton Coal road for $134,000. Connie Wee was granted a divorce from Cunningham. An explosion at Montgomery Box factory near RuFpalo killed two and left several injured with bodies possibly buried in the ruins.
San Francisco April 6 negotiations move toward forming one major corporation the Yukon Mercantile Co to control Yukon and Alaska traffic. The plan pools the Alaska Commercial Co with 2 000 000 capital the Alaska Exploration Co 7 000 000 and the North American Trading Exploration Co 5 000 000. All firms run large Seattle offices and Alaska Commercial once held near monopoly.
Yorke A. Barrington 26, noted Beattie druggist, died of brain fever at Seattle General Hospital after a week of illness. He recently moved his stock to Second Avenue and Pike Street and leaves a widow, his mother, three brothers, and the daughter of pioneer H. F. Phillips. Funeral arrangements not yet set.
The last night express from Chicago to Detroit on the Michigan Central collided with a train at Wayne junction. The rear car was wrecked and many passengers reportedly injured. Pullman Conductor Weight broke a leg. Louis Mendelasohn and James N. Mackin, Detroit passengers, suffered serious cuts.
The board of public works met to decide permits for Seattle Central and Seattle City Railway Cos to lay tracks on Occidental avenue. Each firm denied the other’s rights and the board postponed action for one week, with court action if unresolved. Bids and contracts were announced for East Thomas street, Roylston avenue, Fast James street, and Sixteenth avenue cement sidewalks, all awarded to Kalberg Co. or Normile, totaling several thousands. The meeting adjourned at 12 45 and reconvened at 2 30.

Gen Cassine M Clay remains in control of the property despite the confrontation. The clash ended without injury. In Nashville Tennessee the state House passed a bill banning price fighting.
Grand jury in Ropwling Green Kentucky indicts five Potter College male students for assault with intent to kill in a campus frolic gone wrong. They allegedly tried to help five girls escape through college windows during a four night spree and exchanged shots with a professor who fired on them by mistake. The scandal draws Southern families into the case.
On the Monaco frontier two counts and a lieutenant engaged in a duel over a public altercation. Pistols failed to injure, then swords. In the first pass Count Tarnowsk i sustained a forearm wound while both participants resolved the dispute. Later reports note a separate robbery at Heneca post office in Newton County Missouri with a blown safe and cash loss.
