Americans and arm chair experts have feared German tactical genius. The outline of Allied grand strategy is emerging as planners address the challenge of long supply lines and distant transport.
Defense Council met Wednesday night to approve disaster preparedness questionnaires. W S Knighton head of auxiliary firemen and John Bournes chief air raid warden will prepare and distribute mimeographed forms for townwide completion. Answers will be checked at the city hall and used to issue window placards indicating compliance with V-Home regulations.
After agitation by the Orange county bar association the board of supervisors decided the county will have a public defender. A bar committee led by Gordon X. Richmond urged immediate policy action and noted County Counsel Joel Ogle could not serve as public defender. The move aims to save costs and streamline legal aid, with appointment expected within weeks.
Residents of Seal Beach express relief as P. A. Stanton pioneer real estate man and community patriarch shows marked recovery from several weeks illness at St. Joseph's hospital in Orange. Doctors report improving condition and no immediate fears of relapse, and his return home is anticipated soon.

Seal Beach Salvage for Victory committee led by A W Armstrong mails over 400 keys today to Mr Lewis and urges more keys this week to meet the flood of requests.
The Seal Beach American Red Cross chapter will hold Friday night elections at 7 30 p m in the city hall auditorium instead of Red Cross headquarters to accommodate a larger membership. Members eligible to vote are urged to attend, especially men, as officers will be elected and the chapter reorganized for future activities.
Seal Beach will raze six peninsula shacks across Anaheim Bay bridge after the state division of housing branded them unfit for habitation and ordered vacating. Condemnation notices were held until October 1 to allow occupants to settle affairs. City council will authorize removal or demolition, with owners expected to protest.
