Maj. Oscar L. Haymond and Capt. Maryon Toole led a visit by Woman's Ambulance and Defense Corps of America officers to the Seal Beach Lions Club at 101 Ranch House. They described their service, training, and vow to aid civilians while freeing men for front line duty. The group said membership has grown from about 1,500 before Pearl Harbor to nearly 65,000, mostly in California. Larry Sheehan was introduced as a prospective new member and will be initiated next Lions meeting.

First Aiders Pass Tests at Red Cross Training
Fifty-three Red Cross standard first aid certificates and twenty-nine advanced certificates were earned by local trainees under Stella Thompson since the war began. More classes, including a men's session by Esther Funk, will complete examinations next week as Sacramento delays the final certificates. Red Cross president Mary Ekberg praised Thompson and the volunteers for the extensive training effort in Seal Beach.
