At Lock Haven Clinton county Democrats endorsed Pattison for president and instructed delegates to back J. Henry Cochran and John B Billing for at large delegate to the national convention. In Emporium Cameron county Democrats also endorsed Pattison and unit rule guidance for delegates.

Across Montgomery, Franklin, Mifflin, Tioga and Beaver counties on April 12, Quay supporters won decisive victories in Republican primaries. Loomis and other Quay backers secured national and presidential endorsements, while Packer faced strong protests in Tioga. Beaver and Lycoming regions reported record turnout and narrow margins for Packer in Congress.
In Indianapolis on April 12 the proposed organization of American Protective association members against McKinley takes shape within state lodges. McKinley received strong backing in many townships with Harrison as second choice Delaware township instructed its delegates for Reed Raritan township named Charles Felmly John L Conner and J R Bullock as delegates Bullock and Conner go uninstructed but are believed to favor Harrison.

A fast freight derailment near Locustdale after a broken axle sent 12 lumber cars off the track. Sweeney Gillespie and Hogsler were taken to Miners Hospital for treatment.
