A 75-strong delegation from the American Legion Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars paid memorial tribute at Camelback Cemetery and Green Acres Memorial Gardens with a firing volley flag raising and prayer. In Washington President Kennedy laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns and visited James Forrestal's grave. At Arlington Kennedy placed a wreath and observed a 21 gun salute before touring Forrestal's grave. John Jr accompanied the President as Camp David awaiting.

Smallsreed, chairman of We're for Scottsdale Committee, disclosed new support from three local groups the Junior Chamber of Commerce Exchange Club of Scottsdale and the Scottsdale Junior Woman's Club. Jones Wins 500 Mile Memorial Day Race in Indianapolis
Parnelli Jones won the 500 mile Memorial Day auto race in Indianapolis defending against Jimmy Clark. He led again after a mid race pit and finished with a record average speed over 143 mph as Ford cars dominated after laps 92 to 95 amid a 300000 spectator crowd and favorable weather. Hurtubise exited with a fluid leak while Clark and Gurney traded the lead earlier in the event.
