A separate break in at Mr G's Drapery Store on Scottsdale Road netted a velvet bedspread worth 180 dollars and 15 dollars in cash between Thursday evening and Friday morning. In another incident, Switzerland residents Rolf and Dorit lost 369 dollars in cash from a beauty salon after burglars pried open a rear door between Saturday 530 p m and Sunday 315 p m.

Dismissal of Nar cotics Charge Against Byrd in Scottsdale Court
Wendell Byrd, 33, of Phoenix, had charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell dismissed in Scottsdale Justice Court. Judge Harold Holcomb ruled the state failed to prove Byrd possessed the three pounds of morphine base found with Charles Chavez during a Dec. 16 Motel 6 arrest on East Camelback Road. Chavez and another man remain bound over to Superior Court for trial on narcotics possession.

James C Brooks 47 formerly of Scottsdale died Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital of leukemia. He lived at Sportsman’s Haven Roosevelt Lake and was born in Rustburg Virginia, moving to Arizona in 1955 from Kansas City. A World War II ferry pilot in the China Burma theater, he later flew for Slick Airways and Bonanza until 1967 when he retired and relocated with family to Roosevelt Lake. He is survived by his wife Beverly, three sons Mark Scott and Craig, his mother Gladys Brooks and sister Dorothy Miller of Litchburg Virginia. Rosary tonight at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Sea Mortuary. Cremation to follow. Donations requested to National Shrine of Saint a We Masizon St. Chicago IL. Edward Wessale 5720 H Joshua Tree Lane, Pine died Friday at White Mountain County Club. Born in Waconia Minnesota he moved to Pine in 1952 from Cedar Rapids Iowa. Friends may call Messinger’s Mortuary for arrangements. Cremation will follow.

University instructor found dead in burning Tucson car
