85 Year-Old Golfer Morse Gates Defies Odds
At 85 Gates, a retired dentist from Coronado, took up golf at 77 after bowling. Despite a mangled left hand from a 1931 accident and poor eyesight, he designed a silicone grip, plays about twice weekly at Coronado Golf Course, and recently shot a 33, matching his best. He aims to continue playing two to three rounds weekly to stay active.
