Bomb Explodes in Federal Building Restroom Killing IRS Worker
An explosion on the second floor of the eight story Civic Center Federal Building in Los Angeles killed Thomas Ortiz, 18, an IRS orderly. Fire at residence and grass blaze reported in Tucson
A grease fire on a stove at 8301 E Hubbell caused 300 in damage before firefighters arrived at 6 29 p m. The blaze damaged the siding of the William Macha home. Fire crews also put out a grass fire at 8408 E Picadilly at 8 41 a m. The cause of the stove fire is unknown.

Four die in high speed chase collision near Tempe
Ronald Lee Cooley age 36 and Kristine Leigh 1 were killed when their car was struck by a vehicle pursued by highway patrolmen south of Baseline Road near Tempe. Cooley's wife was seriously injured. Suspects Leonard Wilson and Oscar Hubbard were arrested for marijuana possession after exchanging gunfire with patrolmen.
