Scottsdale Men Win Top Scout Awards at 50th Anniversary Dinner

Edward B. Jubber and Clifford J. Woodka, both of Scottsdale, received the Silver Beaver Award at the Theodore Roosevelt Council, Boy Scouts of America 50th anniversary recognition dinner. Israeli raid on Lebanon villages kills guerrillas

Israeli forces struck two southern Lebanon villages early today and destroyed three houses used as guerrilla bases. At least three guerrillas were killed while Israel reported one soldier killed and three wounded. The raid, the second in 16 days, followed ten guerrilla attacks since January 10.

Minibike Collision Injures Two Youths in Paradise Valley

Paradise Valley authorities report two youths injured in a Sunday minibike collision in a vacant field at 6200 E Lincoln Drive. Patrick Terry 12 of 6238 E Keim Dr suffered a compound fracture of the right leg. Vernon Proll 13 of 89 Mountain Shadows West suffered a compound fracture of the right arm. The incident occurred at 3 p.m. as both rode in the field.

Two admitted in Scottsdale two car crash

Ten people were treated and two admitted at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital after a two car collision at Shea Boulevard and Pima Road. Trio nabbed on pot charges near Verde River junction

A Scottsdale youth and two Phoenix men were arrested by sheriff deputies for illegal marijuana possession near the Verde and Salt Rivers junction Sunday afternoon. Michael C. Smith, 18, of 6613 E Exeter, and Mark C. Henes, 18, Phoenix, along with a 19-year-old male, were taken to the county jail.

Man Exposes Himself In Fashion Square Parking Lot

Police search for a dark haired man about 19 after a 22 year old woman reports the incident at 2 30 p m Saturday in the Fashion Square south parking lot. The suspect approached, exposed himself, and the woman drove to the police station to report. He was described as six feet tall, wearing a white T shirt and blue jeans.

Father and son injured in minibike bicycle crash

Thomas Byrum, 46, and his son Matthew, 7, were treated and released at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital after a minibike bicycle collision in front of their home at 8325 Cherry Lynn. They were riding eastbound side by side holding hands when Matthew lost control causing the minibike to fall. No citation issued.

Police report three burglaries over the weekend in Scottsdale with losses exceeding 1100 dollars. At Safari Hotel room of Edward, thieves pried door, stealing 750 in traveler's checks, an hearing aid, and a 250 wristwatch while occupants slept. Arabian Bazaar on 29 N Brown Ave saw break in front window and theft of water pipes and a vase valued at about 60 dollars. Scotch Mist at 1137 Ne Scottsdale Rd robbed Sunday about 10 230 with two bottles of liquor stolen. Police saw two suspects fleeing but did not apprehend them.

Paradise Valley burglaries net over one thousand dollars

Paradise Valley police report three cat type burglaries yielding over $1 100 in cash. The Leonard Rizzi residence on 6215 East Bret Hills saw $1 047 stolen, with entry undetermined. The Louis Klein home at 7834 65th Street lost $80 and the S Carl Jennings residence at 6445 Stallion Road $12. entry was via an unlocked door and a carport opening.

Man Grabs Purse and Flees From Car

Frieda Warner reported a man in his early 30s snatched her purse as she exited her car at home. He jumped into a late model car with two other occupants nearby, carrying about $100 in cash and identification. No further description was given.
