Striped Bass Fishing Continues At Lake Havasu
Outdoors writer Charles Niehuis reports two striped bass catches at Lake Havasu in January and notes ongoing winter fishing. C. G. Mayes of Albuquerque landed a 20 44 pound fish near the power lines, while another 12% pound fish was taken in the Bill Williams Arm. Burney, Riviera guide, confirms local schools and discusses bait, lures, and the bass’s winter behavior and reproduction potential in the Colorado River system.

Waterfowl season shows modest gain and survey results
Arizona Game and Fish Department biologist Don Berlinski notes the 1970 71 waterfowl season ended January 17 with a net drop of about 3100 birds on survey routes mainly due to diving ducks and coots. Dabbling ducks rose by about 1400, pintails up 1100, and teal up 600, while mallards fell slightly.
