Women security guards patrol Phoenix Open with smiling firmness
Burns International Security Services in Phoenix assigned seven young women to maintain order at the Thunderbird Phoenix Open golf tournament. Ashley Burner says the white glove approach works better when delivered by a pretty girl. Kathy Tyler, 18, explains their duties and the frequent difficulty of ejecting gate crashers. Nellie McCune notes over a hundred incidents daily, with most gate crashers young men, and some elderly women forgetting tickets. The guards believe female staff reduce confrontations and are often more understanding in screening crowds.
