Businessmen tackle Watts unemployment after 1965 riots
In Los Angeles a group led by Chad McClellan formed a committee with the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce to hire unemployed men from the Watts curfew area. About half the 25 000 unemployed in the district were deemed job ready and 70 firms joined a welfare effort funding an on site hiring center with 100,000 dollars annually.
