Da Nang Air Base Hit by Viet Cong Rockets Kill 47

Viet Cong shells struck the Da Nang air base and a nearby village at dawn, killing 47 people including 12 Americans and wounding 45. The attack damaged runways, fighter jets, base facilities, and about 150 homes in Ap Do village. Ensuing searches found mortar sites 2,000 and 5,000 meters from the base. Spokesmen noted the use of long range rockets and a Russian built launcher, while US forces began mining coastal rivers in the North to disrupt war goods flow.

Scottsdale kindergarten aid in doubt after Supreme Court ruling

Police officer injured by runaway Scottsdale horse

Officer Edward Trapp was treated for head and back injuries after a horse bolted while he tried to lead it near the 8300 block of Avalon. A passing motorist spooked the animal, witnesses said, prompting a rapid police response and transport to hospital emergency care.
