Morse concedes Oregon Senate race to Packwood
Wayne Morse, the longtime senator, conceded the U S Senate race to Republican Robert W. Packwood after a recount left the outcome unchanged. Morse, 68, announced he would not contest the election and criticized election procedures and Packwood's campaign, hinting at a possible probe into a $68 312 retainer paid to Packwood by a Citizens Action Committee. He said some records would go to Mark Hatfield as Packwood takes office.
