Two Scottsdale youths injured in motorcycle crash
Two Scottsdale youths were injured when a car turned left in front of their motorcycle on Scottsdale Road near 8:25 pm. Robert M. Carvalho 18 and his passenger Kurt Kitchel 16 suffered injuries. Kitchel was treated and released at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. John J. Flynn 43 was cited for an improper left turn. Flynn had recently lost an appeal over a speeding conviction.

Police report two burglaries on the same lot in Scottsdale occurred Monday night. Louis Gillmore of West Indian School Road lost about 270 dollars from a safe in his bedroom while housekeeper Lena Clinton noted 4.85 dollars missing from a rear house. Electrical fires cause minor damage at local sites
An electrical short in a refrigeration unit caused $75 damage to the Smoke Tree Restaurant at 7101 E Lincoln Dr. The blaze, confined to the back wall, required only about three gallons of water. A separate kitchen fire in a home at 8502 E Wilshire caused $50 damage from grease in a deep fat fryer. Public safety crews also doused an illegal burn at 74th St and Osborn Rd, a brush burn started by a demolition crew, a small grass fire behind 70th St, and a discarded Christmas tree behind Paradise Parkway, all with no major damage.
