Advertisers and residents in Scottsdale area invited to compete get 20 percent weekly commissions. Prizes awarded September 27.
Premier Khrushchev told Italian Premier Fanfani he is willing to negotiate the German problem with the West and that talks are opportune. He reaffirmed intent to sign a peace treaty with East Germany if no West agreement is reached. The Italian spokesman Humberto Bianci relayed the final Kremlin talks ending the two leaders’ discussions.
Four hijackers seized a $5 million Continental Airlines jet with 73 aboard en route Phoenix to Houston and tried to fly to Havana. FBI and police shot out tires and halted the plane after a nine hour siege. two hijackers surrendered while two remained aboard with five others.

If annexation occurs county jurisdiction ends. if zoning is granted the city may require existing use.
Congress erupts over a Continental Airlines hijack as four gunmen seize a jetliner in El Paso Texas. Senators Bridges Engle and Rep Chelf push bills to curb air piracy with weapon bans and cockpit locks while the State Department gathers facts. President Kennedy kept informed but offered no immediate comment.
A disputed $10,000 investment in an unauthorized Scottsdale dump faces a possible lawsuit to block recovery and cover damages.
