Scottsdale plans revised discipline code on drugs and crimes
A committee of teachers has drafted a two page update to the Scottsdale School District discipline code. The new rules add offenses for possession use or being under the influence of any drug and allow consideration of extenuating circumstances. Suspension or expulsion could follow drug alcohol tobacco or fireworks offenses with potential for alternative programs in certain cases. The changes also address students convicted of crimes with criteria to determine ongoing attendance risk and possible discipline. Dr Richard Fawley notes the revisions aim for fair decisions rather than leniency.
