Antitrust Book Suit Filed Against 19 Publishers

In Phoenix a federal antitrust suit names nineteen book publishers and dealers. The State of Arizona Maricopa County the City of Phoenix Phoenix Union High School District and Cartwright School District join as filing parties. The complaint alleges the defendants maintain high artificial and noncompetitive prices on children's and library editions. The suit seeks triple damages and may be amended to specify damages.

Mesa Driver Injured In Early Morning Crash

A Mesa man Cecil Leroy Harmon 27 was injured when his westbound car on McDowell Road at Scottsdale Road failed to control, struck a center island turn signal, caromed into the eastbound lane, and left him at the scene. Harmon was treated at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital then released from Maricopa County Hospital. He was cited for failure to control.

Two Arizona men convicted in money order bond scheme

Two Phoenix men, John H. Swinehart and Antonio G. Amadio, were among seven defendants convicted on 25 counts in a scheme to dispose of more than 500000 dollars in stolen money orders and bonds. Swinehart earned three counts of receiving stolen property and one count of conspiracy, with Amadio also convicted on similar charges. The group, including defendants from California and Florida, allegedly tried to unload blank EE series bonds and American Express money orders from burglaries in Missouri and Illinois between 1966 and 1968.

Nixon asks Congress for more funds to fight organized crime
