Scottsdale officers solved the case of the piggy bank bandits a trio of third grade students who looted nine homes stealing over 100 dollars mainly from coin banks and damaged property while snacking on fruit drinks and perfume scented rugs. A woman’s sighting helped identify the juvenile suspects leading to arrests.
County and state authorities served civil rights leader Martin Luther King with a temporary injunction to stop a series of racial demonstrations in Birmingham. The action followed 141 arrests, and the order was signed by Circuit Judge William A. Jenkins Jr. King was served while meeting aides in an integrated restaurant co owned by A. G. Gaston at 2 15 am. EST.
Cuban exile leaders in Miami back Revolutionary Council President Jose Miro Cardona amid a rift with the Kennedy administration. They reject his resignation over U S policy toward anti Castro raids and vow to keep fighting to topple Castro regime despite U S stance to coexist with communism.

A lone burglar caused about 400 in damages at Coronado High School. Windows doors and locks were broken while a self inflicting cut left blood in several areas.
