Scarsdale merchants at a Harwood Building meeting elected officers for the Retail Merchant's Association of Scarsdale and voted unanimously to close stores Wednesday afternoons during July and August. Charles M. English was named president with Leo P. O’Farrell as vice president, Sidney Sobol secretary, and Mrs. Helen Blanck treasurer. Directors include Miss Rosemary Lesan, Lee Jansing, and Benjamin Ruggiero. A constitution committee was formed and the shop in Scarsdale drive was praised for broad support.

Robber In Tragedy Strikes Pinecrest Road Home
Mr and Mrs Emile Bouchoux returned home about one o clock Sunday morning and surprised a thief in their house as he was about to steal. Patrolman Carney fired at the fleeing man and an alarm was sent to county police. Police sought a dark suited man believed injured after the chase.

Yachts Enter Bermuda Race From Scarsdale
Two Scarsdale yachts The Delfin and The Dorade join thirty entrants in the New London Bermuda race, starting Sunday. Delfin, a fifty eight foot Seawanhaka schooner, is skippered by Raymond Morse with sons Henry and Howard aboard. Dorade, designed by Olin Stephens, sails Class B with Stephens as skipper. accompanying crew includes Roderick Stephens Jr and others. The yachts departed yesterday for New London for inspection before the race.

Collet Resigns As Director Over Village Finance Law
Walter J. Collet resigned this week as director of the Caleb Heathcote Trust Company to avoid violating New York State village law forbidding officials from designating as a depository a bank in which they hold stock. He offered for sale his shares in the Scarsdale National Bank and Trust Company and in the Caleb Heathcote Bank, and mayor Robert E. Christie Jr. said his Scarsdale bank shares were sold for the same reason. Village funds have been moved from the Hartland National Bank, of which he is a director and stockholder. This followed efforts to amend the law to allow such deposits with equal interest, vetoed by Governor Roosevelt.

Carney Is Found Guilty of Incompetence in Scarsdale Case
Raymond Carney a suspended Scarsdale police member was declared guilty of incompetence by the village board after a Tuesday night hearing. The board voted to discharge him. Attorney Charles Wallace said the case would be appealed to the Supreme Court in White Plains. Three charges were cited including discharging a pistol at Fire House Number 2 on November 5, 1928 and a riot gun discharge on August 25, 1929, plus a loaded pistol incident against Frank Arno leading to Arno’s death on March 1, 1930.
