The Scarsdale Choral Society formalized its organization at a Scarsdale Woman's Club dinner and meeting. William C. White elected president with officers including Walter Edmunds second vice president and Mrs. Fred Harrington secretary.
Harlow D Savage of Crane Road was chosen as executive director of the League of New York Theatres Inc an organization formed by producers managers and ticket brokers to curb ticket speculation The group plans to stimulate New York theatre business with Savages program starting July 7 He is an engineer former president of Combustion Engineering Corporation first president of the Refractory Manufacturers Association and designed the world first fully electrified refractory plant The league says it seeks an impersonal efficient business led approach unbound by theatre politics
At the annual stockholders meeting of Scarsdale Woman's Club Publications Inc Mrs Robert R Updegraff was elected president succeeding Mrs Burchard Dutcher Dutcher stays on the board as vice president Mrs Updegraff has been with the paper since 1925 Mrs Henry Eckhardt elected to board to replace Miss Anne Wilson who resigned due to business pressures Other officers include Mrs Guy Wellman treasurer Mrs Allan Richardson secretary and Mrs F H Bethell ex officio as club president
David Magowan of Cooper Road was elected this week to the Board of Directors of Hartsdale National Bank. He will fill the unexpired term of the late Du Bois Beale.
The Scarsdale Memorial Day events featured a parade and service at St James the Less churchyard, school patriotic exercises, and a Scout drill where Troop 4 won the American Legion plaque. Norman Prouty earned an eagle badge, Troop 3 won last year’s title, and Troop 3 received the Old Timers Token wrist watch. The Rev George Smyth denounced Communists and urged steadfast citizenship, introduced by Mayor Robert E Christie Jr. The organizing committee included Arthur F Hebard and others.
Scarsdale Golf Club hosted a busy weekend with multiple events. Results from the fifty four hole medal play show Class A led by K M Reed and H A Ley, with Ervin and Ludlow close behind. Class B top scorers were Melick and Fradley. Ball sweepstakes crowned Ervin, Melick, Ley, Fradley and others across both classes.
Pliny W. Williamson supervised a tax lien sale at the Village Hall last week. The town sold liens on state, county and school taxes totaling $9,105.50 to individuals, while village tax liens totaling $5,162.21 were bought by individuals.
Vernon G Smith principal of Scarsdale High School announced graduation exercises with an orchestra Tannhauser March invocation salutatory and two Glee Club numbers followed by speaker John M Arent Curtis High School New Brighton Staten Island. Diplomas presented by Ralph I Underhill superintendent of Scarsdale. Exit march and a junior class dance to follow. Senior class roster listed with names of graduates and attendees.
Walter H. Boyce announces the Bronx River Parkway Commission will use the parkway building near Crane Road west of the highway as the new headquarters for maintenance and forestry. From Scarsdale, all Bronx River Parkway work will be directed as the line stretches north from New York City through 242nd Street Valhalla to Hawthorne. The project has drawn international interest as it follows the Bronx River offering noted Westchester scenery and engineering.
Ralph I. Underhill Scarsdale schools superintendent returned to his Church Lane home last Wednesday recovering from a serious Johns Hopkins Hospital operation in Baltimore performed recently.

Westchester Archery Association will stage its first meet at Woodland Park Ardsley on June 21 and 22 sanctioned by the National Archery Association. Open, member and junior classes compete for cups and medals as local and neighboring competitors join for championship honors.

Westchester County Board of Supervisors approved a 37525 additional appropriation for the probation system at a Monday session in White Plains Court House. The increase brings the annual probation budget to about 124000, following a public hearing where 75 citizens urged the measure.

The Village Board will conduct a public hearing at its next regular meeting on improving Madison Road White Road Clarence Road and Johnson Road by 24 foot wide macadam pavement with stone curbs. A prior hearing noted 18 foot width and the board now reviews the 24 foot increase.

Ade line Russell as Molly Seamore and Nancy Jones as a youth naval officer lead a strong cast including Deborah Rossmassler as Juliette and Priscilla Parker Hall as O Mimosa San in a tuneful performance rich in chorus work and Japanese atmosphere.
The annual inter-Sunday School track meet will be held tomorrow afternoon June 7 at two o’clock on the High School field. Three Sunday Schools compete the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Scarsdale Congregational Church and the Church of St James the Less with possible entry from Scarsdale Community Baptist Church. Officials are Thomas Fisher John Benedict and William Archibald. Events include a primary special fifty yard dashes girls and boys relay races girls high jump boys broad jump boys tug of war and girls tug of war. Last year the winner was the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The trial of Raymond Carney of the Scarsdale police force was postponed again to Tuesday evening June 17 at 8 15 at the Village Hall. The delay follows a prior postponement at the request of Carney's attorney and a subsequent request due to insufficient preparation time.
