More than 1,000 villagers and friends gathered on Cooper Green for the annual Yuletide Christmas Eve caroling. Rev. Herbert W. Hansen offered the invocation as H Beach Carpenter welcomed attendees. Mayor Edward Ingalls and Town Club officials spoke of unity and a hopeful new year. The High School band led renditions of classic carols, followed by a benediction from Rev. Edwin H. Lehr and thanks from Norman H. Smeltzer and the Town Club civic celebrations committee.

Lt Hart Killed In Korea Action
Lt Paul Calvin Hart forward artilleryman with the U S Army in Korea was killed in action on December 13. He was a WWII veteran and a Fort Riley OCS graduate born in Philadelphia. He spent five weeks in Scarsdale this summer and left for Korea on August 9 with the 64th Field Artillery, 25th Division. His widow and son reside in Stuyvesant Town New York.

December snow led to several accidents in Scarsdale. On Post Road north of Richbell Road William Fencki of Yonkers skidded after an oncoming glare and crashed his car into two following vehicles. Other collisions occurred on Weaver Street and Post Road as icy lanes left drivers to move under their own power after minor damage.
