Washington reports Roosevelt authorized a huge river project to dam the Kaw from just above Kiro to Manhattan. The lake would cover about 106000 acres and employ around 15000 men, with Belvue St Marys Wamego among impacted communities. Sheriff Andy Moore and three deputies executed search warrants 509 and 510 at Ed Carter’s home on Republic between Fifth and Sixth.
