County bridges progress and 1940 budget plan notes
A stone arch bridge on the county road east of Republic was completed last week after starting April 10 without stopping traffic. Twenty township boards completed county budgets for 1940 with County Clerk Strand May 10 and 11. Public exams for county teachers are set for May 19 and 20. Social Welfare commodity distribution on the weekend delivered 6,425 pounds of oranges 3,314 pounds of flour 956 pounds of cereal 901 pounds of beans and 55 pounds of corn meal to 385 cases representing 1,183 people.

Mrs John Kinzie of Minnesota spent Monday and Tuesday in the W F Kuhn home and attended her mother Mrs Switzer's funeral in Lovewell with Mr and Mrs Kuhn and others.
