Commencement Week Nears At City Hall School

Plans are under way for the final activities of the term at the Grade School. Commencement for 23 seniors is set for Thursday May 18 at City Hall with the Concordia U B church pastor Rev Holt delivering the address. Picnic and Alumni Banquet finalize the week.

Baker Overcome By Fumes Near Oven in Bakery Incident

Charles Glover worked near an oven in Chilcott bakery last week when fumes caused dizziness. He tried to reach the door but fainted on the floor as the fumes grew stronger. Fresh air under the door revived him after about an hour and he escaped.

Junior Senior Banquet Held Friday Evening

The junior senior banquet, a highlight in local academic circles, was held Friday evening at the Lutheran Church. Faculty and school board members attended as guests while the seniors were honored. Farmer Leonard Barton Injured in Six-Horse Team Accident

Leonard Barton of Wayne suffered serious injuries last week when a six-horse hitched to a disc bolted during a move between fields. The horses bucked, one leg was caught in the blades, and the man’s ankle was severely cut. One horse was killed and others injured. Barton, 18, was taken to Concordia Hospital for treatment.
